Our Rating: Classic Car
At CCC we look at five major characteristics of the cars to create a classification of each vehicle. The paint, body, interior, mechanical, and electrical are all ranked in order to give customers a more tangible measurement of the condition of one of our cars. Our classic inventory receives a classification that shows our cars having an overall condition score or 3-4 on a 5-point scale of condition. We would classify these as fun driver quality vehicles that people can enjoy and represent solid investments. These look terrific with excellent mechanicals. They may be older restorations with some evidence of prior repair. You can look more closely at the designations by looking at the vehicle inspection report for the car.

Background Story From Previous Owner
I was purchased “brand spanking new” on 4/30/70 from the Freeman Volkswagen dealership in Coeur ‘Alene, ID. This is documented in my Volkswagen Maintenance Record book. I was purchased by Melvin Steven Judge (Born April 21, 1912) & Cora Marie Judge (Born August 21, 1918). Though both names were on the title, I belonged to Marie Judge, who always went by her middle name Marie.
Marie Judge wanted a car all her own to transport her grandkids. Marie Judge had three children (Emma, Mary, Bert) by her first marriage to Howard Riggins. These three children provided Marie Judge many grandchildren. Marie also had a child (Patricia) with Melvin Judge, who did not provide her with grandchildren.
At the time of purchase, the VW Dealer installed in me a new Gas Heater. I don’t know if it was a VW heater, but it was installed by the VW Dealership.
I was fortunate to have been bought by the Judge family, as Melvin Judge ALWAYS takes great care of his vehicles & equipment. He was raised on a farm and he grew up learning to take care of vehicles and all equipment. Melvin also was a pilot and owned his own small airplane for a few years. Marie also learned how to fly the airplane and got a solo pilot rating, so that she could take over the controls if anything happened to Melvin while in the air. Needless to say, Melvin kept his private airplane in top condition when he owned it, as well as ALL his vehicles. By trade Melvin was a licensed electrician and a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers).
I have always been kept inside a garage when not being driven. I was not driven much, as Melvin & Marie had other smaller cars they preferred to drive about town. Records of my maintenance were recorded in my Maintenance Record Book through 21,000 miles with dealership stamps. After that Melvin Judge did the maintenance himself and did not make entries into this book.
The last record I can find of Melvin & Marie licensing me was License issued date: 4/26/94 with expiration of 3/31/95. (I was only driven when licensed & insured.) So, I was just stored in the garage for a very long time.
Marie Judge died on December 22, 2008. Melvin Judge had Marie’s name removed from my certificate of Title AND had his daughter, Patricia Ann Bymaster’s name added.
On 6/10/2011 @ 54,000 miles Patricia had her brother (Bert Riggins), who is an auto mechanic, take me out of storage to service EVERYTHING. I got New P195/75R-14 Matrix All Season Whitewall Tubeless Valve Stem Tires. Was Licensed & Insured once again, this time by Patricia Bymaster.
Patricia runs my engine in the garage at least once a month or takes me out for a short drive. Since 2011, I get oil changes & general service. I got a new battery & New Classic Wiper Blades on 7/14/2024.
Melvin Judge passed away on September 22, 2011. Melvin’s name was removed from my certificate of Title. Patricia Ann Bymaster’s name is the only name on title as of 9/30/2011.
As Patricia has another car, she doesn’t drive me much either. I continue to be kept inside the garage when not in use.
But when I do get out, I attract admirers, some of whom want to have pictures of me.
I have: All Transistor AM Lift Out Car Radio along with its Documentation; Volkswagen Transporter Owners Handbook (Revised Edition); Owner’s Manual; Volkswagen Maintenance Record Booklet.
